Bio To write with light. That is literally what photography means. Write from what you know and take pictures of interesting environments.
Just as a writer is in charge of what appears on the page so to the photographer is responsible for what is within the borders. Composition. Make the viewer imagine that the picture goes on and on. Make the image pleasing to the eye. Be your own harshest critic. Click on instinct.
I live in the unreal Disneyland that is Las Vegas and yet when I shoot I am trying to find something real. I moved here from New Hampshire… a world away in every sense. The change of environment has expanded my portfolio and sharpened my senses.
I am most inspired by the work of Henri Cartier Bresson. He had an eye for the sublime in the most ordinary. A true magician.
In Las Vegas it takes an experienced eye to see beyond the artifice of bright lights and get to what is meaningful. The contrast between the artifice and the reality is often the truest nature of the sublime.
SAD
Credits I exhibited my photos at Southern New Hampshire University in 1999. I am a member of the Contemporary Arts Collective here in Las Vegas and exhibited at the Salon de refuse in 2005.
